A Patriotic Feeling- The Forsaken Independence

It’s a bright sunny morning. Ram, a 10 year old boy wakes up at 6:00 AM. Takes bath, has breakfast and all set to attend the independence celebrations at his school. As he has already informed his parents about it the previous day, his parents keep ready things for his programmes at school. Ram takes part in March fast and drill. Completes them successfully and brings smiles to his parents.

His parents belong to lower middle class family, with a meager income to manage monthly expenses. Despite their struggle, like all parents, they want to provide good education to their only son and have great dreams about him.

As years go by, Ram graduates with flying colors and he is OFF to USA leaving his ailing parents back home. He marries and settles down in USA. As his wife is also working, he hardly finds time to visit India. Festivals are celebrated by doing Google search and checking that so and so exist. One day he is working late night in office for his counterpart in UK.

Its night 10PM and he is all set to leave home after a tiring day when he sees the date displaying 15th August. He goes back home and tells his son that its independence day. But the son is totally confused.

Seeing the confused look on his son's face,

Ram: Son, what are u thinking?

Son: Have u gone mad, today is not independence day..

Ram: No dear. It’s 15th August. It’s our independence day.

Son: No papa, July 4th is our independence day. It’s written in my text book and my Maam taught me the same. We already celebrated Independence Day in school a month ago.

This situation of a family is very similar to the situation our country is today. Our ancestors shed their youth and blood so that the next generation can enjoy independence.

But as youngsters what are we doing today?

On educational front:

Nehru set up the prestigious Indian Institute of technologies so that there are world class engineers created every year and they can make India a super power technologically. The engineers shall become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and make a road to innovation and invention of products.

But the scene at campus recruitments of IITs is completely different with every lad aiming for multinational offers. With higher reservation and entry of highly coached students rather than highly intelligent students, IITs are losing their charm year after year.

Its not just IITs.. Its dream of every software engineer to work in MNC, use his brain to make better products for a foreign country. If fortunate settle down in developed country instead of struggling with the problems of infrastructure, corrupt government and so on In India.

On the medical front too, the scenario is not very different. Government hospitals have lost all the trust of good treat with middle class people. So private doctors are more in demand. In the name of scanning, all sorts of unwanted tests are made to make use of the highly priced imported equipment and drill the pocket hole of patients.

The scenario with other fields is still worse where it is a struggle to maintain a decent standard of living with inflation of 8% every year.

Only the fortunate ones are business men who hardly pay taxes and create a virtual demand for their products. These people are hardly caught by the income tax people.

The forgotten part is sports where it is only accessible to fortunate few in cities.

Independent India wakes up with high spirit only during cricket matches. The loss at Olympics and various international sport events will be entertained with “Sab chalta hai” attitude. With few medals, trophies here and there, we easily go in to our comfort zones. Then where is the question of excellence??

On Agricultural front:

It’s been 66 years since independence and we are still not self-sufficient. Come June, July, August- Newspapers will have information about farmers suicide.India shining moment, The Super power India has a grey side of not able to feed its own people. Over to these issues, there is much publicized debate on FDI in retail to help farmers. Are these really helping farmers? Is the monopoly of foreign brands the only solution?

On Social front:

Gone are the days when children of neighborhood play together, fight together.

Celebrations at home are never complete without neighbors visit. But now the scene is completely reverse. Materialistic India is giving rise to a new social phenomenon - the apathy. With the land space price shrinking, real estate price sky rocketing, apartments are the only choice left even for the citizens of upper middle class. The residents in these apartments hardly know each other. Where is the time and energy to celebrate festivals with nuclear families and dual earnings? Forget the celebrations; the residents do not even help each other at the time of emergency.

Couples need the much awaited holiday of 15th august so that they can hang out in always attractive malls, binge on high calorie food.

Is this called a raise in standard of living? Does this signify a good quality of life?

Times are changing as in the family of Ram where the younger generation does not connect to the struggles of older generation in the name of "Freedom" of choice, expression. Ram’s parents certainly would not have thought of the day when Ram leaves them and lives thousands of miles away. Similarly our ancestors would not have dreamt of adulterated young generation in the name of developed independent India...

What's Cooking in Office????

What if for One day – we get our co-workers to cook and enjoy the experience... Wouldn’t it be relaxing?

It’s not just for pleasing the palates but also lift the spirits of all participants. It will make up for a wonderful team building activity. Imagine the usual scenario of going to one of the best restaurants spending on an average of Rs 500 per head and yet not satisfied with it completely.

For a team of 20 people, we would end up spending Rs 10000 which is like monthly grocery bill for a family of 4.This does not bring any value for money and also not contribute to any sort of team building rather than a small chit chat. Also Post lunch it ends up in piling calories and a sleepy afternoon. How Unhealthy???

Imagine you end up cooking some simple recipes with your teammates. Instead of project deadlines, we will have cooking time lines... Mistakes will not go through software iterations. Mistake will end up in a nice laughter which will remain a lifelong memory. Helping each other will always be some of the best moment spent together.

So why don’t we have corporate live cooking as a team building activity????

A Raju Rastogi(3 Idiots) among us.

Who can forget the blockbuster movie 3 idiots. The huge popularity of this movie is mainly because of the social message it conveys “ Follow your dream, Success follows”.

But how many of us are fortunate to follow our passions. First of all, how many of us know our passions.

The current education system atleast in India doesn’t focus on any of the co –curricular activity to be developed and instead identifies intelligence with those who get the highest for a set of questions from a prescribed book.

Will this trigger out of box thinking???

Here is my friend who like Raju Rastogi joins engineering and eventually tries to search the big purpose of life..

Over to the experiences of my friend Sandeep (in his words).

THINK.TYPE. SMOKE

“You name Sandeep Kumar?”

“Yes, sir”

“You name here. Volvo in placed.”

“Oh thank you, sir”

“Don’t sit for placements. Other students get job.”

“OK, sir”

And that is how 4 years of book – related monotony converged to a single moment of ecstasy and finality. Four years. Not an engineer (yet), but with a job. That is the Indian dream.

“Mera beta engineer banega” (My son will become an engineer).

The goal is set. No, no. Don’t get mislead. The goal is not to become an engineer. But the job, that follows the degree. Nobody actually cares for the certificate you receive.

Package, location, job, certificate.

Yes, in that order.

So the day came. July the 13th. The elusive joining date.

I did not particularly enjoy my college days. I had begun to detest the course towards the end. The hope in what it was to be, and the reality of what it truly was. To mug is to rule.

So this was my fresh start. A change of scenario. I began work.

A year has passed. The student has transcended to a professional.

But old ways died hard. The transition has not been smooth sailing.

The first day we were told, we had to put in 9 ½ hours of work per day. NINE AND HALF HOURS. The words were like a prelude to a gore horror movie. Horrifying and far from comprehension.

Training for 6 months. Oh man, 6 months. 6 months? Holy mother of cow, 6 MONTHS!!!

Permission for holidays. Woah. You got 2 optional leaves for all festivals. But college had taught me to embrace the joy of all festivals. On the bed!! Till noon!!

Eventually you receive your workstation. Never has a machine made man feel more empowered. This is my cubicle, my zone. I am going to make it big. I’ll be team lead next. Then MD/CEO. I’ll settle for one of them.

Your team lead bombards you with training material. The habit of skipping units kicks in. Do you have to go through all this stuff? Oh gosh, there is so much. Damn, no nerdy kids to help you out. You are all on your own.

No more peering into rooms, looking for friends in the classroom. If you got the mail, be there.

You hold your own meetings now. Experienced, bored eyes strained at you. With eagerness, you push through. Why was conducting a seminar in college so difficult?

Your deadlines start coming in. You find yourself working into the night. Questions pour in, answers stutter out. Soon you are shooting out answers, asking the questions.

Then a bomb is dropped. You are to give training. Holy Monkey! Me give training? Why me? Because, you can. I smile. You could burn my degree certificate for all I care. I finally feel like an engineer. I am an engineer.

It’s been a year to remember. So much change. Learned, so much. And this is only the beginning. For there is the next year and then the next, then the next. Things ought to continue to change as time passes by. But two important fundamental things which will align everything else in life are responsibility and accountability. The two things, which cannot be taught in any training.

As I look forward to have a future in the corporate world. With expectations rising. With potential being moulded into talent. I cannot help but think about the college kid that I was. Things can be learnt form that kid, I say to myself. The desire to learn, to prove a point, to change. And to have the greatest ability to just let go and enjoy. To keep that kid alive might just be the biggest challenge I have faced.

So with that note. I’ll stop. Too much nostalgia for a day. Need a smoke (What? The college kid needs it. Ironic, I have to smoke to keep him alive). Pooh – Pooh. Ah that’s the stuff.

How men and women handle bad bosses??

Background of the situation:

Sarah is an experienced engineer with good knowledge of her working domain. She gets into an organisation and starts a new journey. Being quick and independent, She completes the assigned tasks with in the prescribed time and contributes positively to her team.

Charan is an experienced engineer basically from research background and works under the same manager as Sarah but in a different project work.

Sarah and Charan reports to a same manager.

During the appraisal, Sarah gets good feedback from her manager about her work.  When asked about her concerns, She informs about the increase in pay and possibility of being moved to other teams gradually over time.

This is not well received by her manager who in turn negotiates that she is paid to industry standards and anyway since she is married , she need not expect more hike.

Sarah is very upset about this attitude of her supervisor but ignores it and continues to do her work.

Meanwhile there is a new project which has shorter deadline and Sarah is asked to complete her task at an assigned date and moved into the new project.

This makes Sarah even more upset as she is not given enough time to be settled in new work and she has no means of providing her feedback as her manager is not open to her concerns.

Charan is assigned a task which he doesnt like very much but since he do not find any other project he tries to do justification in best possible manner to his assigned work. But all his ideas are neglected by his supervisor which in turn upsets Charan because he do not have a road map for himself in the current project.

As Sarah learns the new work on the job, She tends to do mistakes initially. This is not well received by her manager and he in turn humiliates her for bring bad quality into work.

As Charan's work do not have direct impact on production programmes , his work is always looked down up by his supervisor.

These issues pile up over time and One Fine day , it erupts as follows:

( One on One meeting between manager and Sarah)

Manager: You had been working well in the past but of late looks like you have a problem. Your work is not very good.

Sarah:   Everybody needs some time to settle down in new job. Evaluating before this time is not correct on your part and You cant assign my work to another new graduate based on his qualification because it is experience that matters to handle issues.

Manager: You dont have to tell me about what to decide and whom to give work. Since you didnt complete your work on time , You have integrity issues. Also , You must be knowing team mate's salary which is again an integrity issue , thats why you had asked for good hike.  Also , I heard last year one day you left office at 3pm with out informing me. I know why ladies leave office in between. I didnt take all those in to your merit considerations.

Sarah:  Please do not assume things. I dont know any one's salary, As I am in the industry , I have fair understanding of where I stand. Also wrt timings, I didnt leave office any time before office hours. Please check the swipe timings. Also you should have brought that matter immediately and not this late after a year.

The conversation continues and Sarah breaks down in tears and walks out of the meeting.
From next week, She is on a job hunt and decides to leave the organisation as she has not received the expected merit from the organisation and due to bad rapport with her supervisor.

( One on One meeting between manager and Charan)

Manager: Your work do not have any impact at all. I think its waste having such an experienced resource.

Charan: You do not understand the sincerity and hardwork , I have put in this work.

Manager: I think you are not correct fit in my team.

Charan: If you are going to talk all this, lets go to HR and higher boss.

Manager realizes not to exaggerate the issue and puts and end immediately to the conversation.

Charan continues to work and informs higher boss about his moving out of the team over time.

Sarah finds another offer and leaves the job.

This situation has many learnings:

1. First of all , Manager is not matured to handle delicate situations and his way of talking is very rude and arrogant rather than addressing his employee's concerns.

2. Sarah must have immediately informed higher boss/ HR instead of being in the conversation for so long.

3. This also indicates that women tend to give up things more easily even though they may not be at fault.

Although Sarah continues her career in another new organisation, This is an important lesson on why many women fail to reach higher management in the orgnisation.
The above scenario is just an example.

Request all those especially ladies reading the post to send in your comments.

@ Coffee Table Conversation -> Campus to Corporate.

Its been many years since I started working in the industry. But the thought of my initial days of career is still fresh in my memory.. Of course no one can forget their first job and their first pay check.

Here is a conversation with Binoy, my friend who has just joined the industry and his thoughts on campus to corporate. Hope it brings back the good old memories of being a fresher .

Me :What is office life according to you?

Binoy: This July the 13th marked 1 year of corporate life for me. I get asked very often what it’s been like making a transition from college life to the corporate jungle. In my very honest and unbiased opinion it’s really not that different.

I mean true in college you could bunk whenever it became just too cold in the morning to wake up. But then we had to maintain a 70-75% attendance record to be eligible for our exams. Here in the corporate world we have the corporate term for it- ‘sick/emergency leaves’. When it seems just too difficult in the morning to wake up I call up the project lead and say -

“Hi, (cough cough), I’m not really keeping well today (blow nose, sniffle), I don’t think I can make it today (sneeze-acchooo), I’ll try my best to come in the afternoon if I feel better (cough, cough)”.

This works every time.

Me : So what kind of similarities you find between both of them?

Binoy : Appraisal meetings and Vivas aren’t really that different either, we bullshitted our way through most Vivas in college, its pretty much the same scene in the meeting room. Unshaven faces and checked formal shirts (always worked in college lab exams by the way) are replaced by clean shaven faces and crisp neatly ironed shirts Louis Philippe or Van Heusen shirts. When questions are put forth we’ll talk about everything but the subject of the question.

Me :What about deadlines?

Binoy: Project deadlines and last minute preparation for exams is pretty much the same thing. We curse ourselves over and over again saying we should have started before, we then begin to grab whatever resource we have and try make do with it. We take the name of every god in our memory and bribe, cajole or yell at him/her to make this result successful. When ‘D-day’ comes we prepare like warriors going into battle, give our loved ones a longing gaze in the morning, make whatever religious sign we follow, remind our god’s of our deals and then we go ‘Charge!!!!’ And when it is done we act like we’ve scaled Mt. Everest with only one leg.

Me: And Dresscode…..???????

Binoy: In college we went crazy with hairstyles, from Mohawks to spikes to ghajini inspired hairdos. In the corporate world since hairlines are receding or starting to recede there’s not really much room for experimentation in that department. So we move into a new area- Body art or tattoos. Now the experimentation is on how colorful, big and attractive and daring the tattoo can be.

Our circle of friends has changed no doubt but our habits haven’t. In college it used to be hanging out near the chai shop outside college or under some shady tree (if you were among the lucky ones that went to a college with a large campus). In the corporate world it’s the cafeteria or food court or the allocated smoking zone. Whenever our lecturers passed by we’d immediately bend our heads and pass some comment about him/her. Similar scenario in the corporate world, when we see our managers pass by, only now the language is more colorful.

Your final say about college life….

I do really miss the number of holidays we got in college, I mean for any festival under the sun we’d shut shop. In the corporate world it’s restricted to just 8 holidays with two optional (read complete nonsense) holidays thrown in. True since we are being paid we are expected to work and not sit reminiscing about life love and failures (that we do anyway during the weekend drinking sessions) but would it kill the management to raise that number to at least 15-20.

I guess when you really come down to it campus life and corporate life aren’t really that different. Lecturers are replaced by bosses, classrooms are now cubicles, and exams are now review meetings, vivas made us just as nervous as appraisal meetings do.

At the end of day when we receive our appraisal letters we open them with same amount tension we felt as we searched for our names through that long mark sheet in college. If the appraisal is good we celebrate just as we did when we saw a “pass” next to our name. If the result is bad we hang our heads in shame mope around for a few days and then finally say -

“Next year is always there”.

A New Beginning!!!

Udyogam purusha lakshanam..

This is a saying in Sanskrit which means Work is the identity of a Man (woman).A job doesn’t just mean an office kind of work but anything that brings out a passion and meaning for oneself.

It would be hard to imagine oneself without a job. As a human being one should always strive for growth. Growth includes physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social. Most of the time, it is the work we do that brings out the emotional, mental growth.

As an experienced engineer, here I am at the doors of Volvo looking forward for challenging opportunities to make me a better person in terms of all round growth.

Delivering a Baby from IT view

I thought of sharing the below artcile although I didnt write..
Everytime I read , cant stop laughing..
Its a wonderful way of mocking at IT industry :D
Have a nice laugh...:)

Wonderful definitions of designations:

2) Developer is a Person who thinks it will take 18 months to deliver a Baby.

3) Onsite Coordinator is one who thinks single woman can deliver nine babies in one month.

4) Client is the one who doesn't know why he wants a baby.

5) Marketing Manager is a person who thinks he can deliver a baby even if no man and woman are available.

6) Resource Optimization Team thinks they don't need a man or woman; they'll produce a child with zero resources.

7) Documentation Team thinks they don't care whether the child is delivered, they'll just document 9 months.

8) Quality Auditor is the person who is never happy with the PROCESS to produce a baby.

9) Tester is a person who always tells his wife that this is not the Right baby.

10) HR is a person who thinks that a donkey can deliver a human baby if given 9 months.

Mark your Skills than Certificates

Deccan Herald, Times of India and many other papers have one ad in common which is photos of the school toppers and felicitation by their school management.

What about those who didnt make it to the top? Does it mean they wont land up in great jobs. Certainly Not.

Here is an example of a person who had back logs in his graduation but made it to one of the best organisations. His name is Yogesh and works in an Automotive OEM.

Me :  Can you describe briefly about yourself, your current work?

Yogesh :    Hi , I'm a 11-7 employee who loves his work and company , And more importantly a nice pay to full fill my long desire built from childhood.

Me :  How did you land in your current job?

Yogesh :  Multiple job jumps from small organizations.I started off with a small company with 10  employees teaching final year projects to engineering students working for about a year later got a break into an automotive company as a contract employee , as working along I landed up in my current organization

Me : On Academics front, u have been just average. how has it impacted your professional life?

Yogesh : Well after seeing my resume i could clearly see a frown on their face , but all I needed is to have a talk to let them know what I am.Initially it was difficult but later my previous jobs was an example so I did'nt have to explain much :-) .All I can say is my passion towards learning got me this far , and not fancy numbers on my resume.

Me : Your take on Automotive industry.

Yogesh : I was always fascinated by the automotive industry the adaptive algo's , life saving designs and the constant approach to prove them as the best.

I always wanted to point out on a car and say " Do u see that CAR ..... It runs on my code "

Me :  Your thoughts for average performers

Yogesh : Hmmmm . . . . . Well in my view they concentrate on different aspect of education than writing convincing answers. In my case i always wanted to know how stuff worked and when i explained that its not the same as the stuff printed.

Me : Finally, whats work life balance all about?

Yogesh : Having a life at work is the perfect balance , i dont believe in the saying 5 days hard work and party in weekends.

Work is fun and I enjoy my work and weekends are not for patching up the fun lost in the week.

So as it is said "journey is more important than destination"..

Make your Inner Journey through your action that bring satisfaction !!!

A White Collar Crime!!!

The first thing in the morning as soon as I switched on the news was the Breaking news " Another Satyam Story- Reebok scam,In what could the second biggest corporate scandal after Satyam, Reebok India has alleged a Rs 8,700 crore fraud by its former Managing Director Subhinder Singh Prem and former Chief Operating Officer Vishnu Bhagat.Reebok lodged an FIR with the Gurgaon police alleging that Prem and Bhagat had 'stolen' products by setting up 'secret warehouses', fudged accounts and indulged in fictitious sales to cause a multi-crore dent to the company.

Its high time to think about the tone at the top management and how it affects the employees at lower levels.

Why do people at responsible positions make mistakes? Or is it in our system to tolerate mistakes?

Right from the bribery which happens at a traffic signal, RTO, and corporate manipulation of financial results, its very evident of the unethical behavior of those at responsible positions.Does this happen basically because of those managers at top setting unrealistic goals from their subordinates. When executives put pressure on their employees to meet unrealistic goals to yield profits for the company, they are essentially forcing employees to do whatever it takes to achieve those goals, whether they achieve those goals improperly or not. In their minds, the end justifies the means.

Is it also because people at the top satisfy their greed with power in hands, are not answerable to those who report to them?

Also such wrong doings are never reported mainly due to fear factor. The fear of retaliation from their superiors caused not to report such misconduct.

So Does Unethical lies the head that wears the crown ???? or the crown resides at unethical hands??

Personal branding... Is it Really Important ????!!!!!

Two young students Shahul and Sada, graduates from a reputed engineering college and joins an organisation in a same team under the same manager through campus recruitment. Both are very hardworking and competitive and learn the work quickly and show positive contributions to the team.Over time, management and team leaders are very happy for having both of them in the team.

Shahul is a very shy guy, who is very good at his work, understands the big picture of his domain and delivers what is expected of him with very high quality on time. Being shy, he does not communicate regularly with his bosses about his future oppurtunities like onsites and promotion. He believes that his work will speak for itself and does his job sincerely.

Sada is a smart guy who is good at his work, very hardworking and talks about his work and accomplishments at regular intervals with his manager. He also projects himself as a person looking for travel oppurtunities and promotional capabilities.

After 5 years at work, Shahul and sada are at same levels as senior engineers in the organisation. During an informal meeting Shahul gets to know that Sada is slightly better paid than him and manager has selected him for an onsite oppurtunity. Shahul feels bad that his capabilities are not recognised and looks outside of his organisation for better prospectives and finds one of his choice. So Shahul leaves the organisation and finds a career path in the next organisation as a Senior engineer in his respective project.

As time pass by 3 years since Shahul joined the next organisation, He is promoted to the next level. He is also recognised for his outstanding work. Sada works in the same organisation and after 3 years , he gets promoted twice and becomes a manager.

Now Shahul still works as a technical leader and still has a long way to get managerial assignment where as Sada is now a manager.

So its all about Personal Branding!!! how important it is??

Its about how people perceive you. Many a times,I have come across situations in life where people take us in a different context although that may not be true.Such negligent situations cant be completely ignored as these are the situations that builds an image about ourselves in a professional set up and help us grow in an organisation.it is not just applicable for marketing guys and sales people, but each and every individual in an organisation. Its about how the management and peers perceive you.

I remember a saying " Only the crying baby gets milk".As we goes up the professional ladder, the talent doesnt really matter. Its how well one carries oneself is what matters. So its very important to project oneself to his immediate supervisor about his/her accomplishments in a positive way and work on the negative behaviorial traits to build a reputation about oneself.

So build your brand, A brand called YOU!!!

Write a Kahaani on a Wonderful Journey called Life!!!

From a conventional Iyer middle class family in Kerala, Here comes a second daughter of the family who is educated in sociology. After completing her masters, she realizes her interest in acting.

She eventually lands up in a movie offer but the film is shelved during production. She doesn’t lose heart and signs two other films but the destiny works against her. She loses the offer from the films and the fim which she does shoot also is shelved. Although she doesn’t fit into stereotypical look of an actress, she doesn’t lose heart and she does few ad films.

If something at hand goes bad, then there is always something better awaiting. With this hope, she continues to do her work sincerely. Her manager of ad films is impressed with her work and signs his film with her. The film eventually releases and she makes a mark. But success doesn’t follow easily again and few of her films does only average at box office and she is criticized for the unconventional looks in the industry.

She realizes her potential is not in looks but in performances and focus on making the character she plays to come alive on screen. She plays the role of a southern siren Smitha popularly known as silk and earns the National Award for the Best Actress. She has redefined the women of substance in showbiz with her Kahaani.

Here is a Kahaani of her journey which emphazises one to not to work on weaknesses and be average, rather work on the strengths and be above Average. A Kahaani for all women to realize their inner potential and make a difference. A Kahaani to do the work with passion and sincererity and make the heads turn around. A kahaani of an individual from humble background who made it to top echelons.

A Kahaani for future generation to follow on.

Hats off to all women who has identified their path with their Kahaanis.

An IITian vs X in today's IT

Uday is a very hard working individual. Being a very intelligent and dedicated student he makes it to IIT Kanpur to pursue Bachelors in Technology. After graduation, He decides to continue his Masters and continues to do M.Tech at IIT itself. His thirst for knowledge never ends. So he decides to do Ph.D in a good university abroad. Being meritorious and very good at studies, he gets a scholarship and completes his research degree successfully and lands up in his dream job and loves his work at abroad itself.

After many years of working in abroad, he decides to come back to India as many NRIs do. He shifts to India. He gets an offer from a leading research firm and accepts the job. As time passes, the research firm is shut down by the management and Management focuses more on production programmes to generate revenue and avoid costs. Since the company didn’t want to fire Uday, they offer him to work in production programme.

Uday is not very happy as he always wanted to work on advanced engineering and do research rather than focus on production tasks which are quite repetitive in nature. but he accepts the offer and works in production programme and provides justice to his work in the best possible way.

Baskar is a software engineer who joins the IT industry after engineering from a not so reputed college. He begins his career in a service company and work hard and goes up the ladder. Baskar currently heads the production programme to which Uday is assigned to.

Being from services background, Baskar focuses on quick delivery and extended working hours which is not Uday’s style of working. Over a period of time, there is a clash between the two of them. In a meeting Baskar tells Uday that he is not good at his assigned job. Being so experienced person, Uday takes lot of time to do given tasks and he doesn’t need his research knowledge at the current work.

Uday feels bad and goes to higher boss Deepak to provide him a suitable role based on his background. Deepak agrees to provide him suitable role under his division. After a month’s time when Uday meets Deepak, Deepak tells him,

Deepak: Uday, you are very good engineer with excellent background. But your background is not very essential in our division. So please do the job whatever is provided.

Uday: Ok sir.

Now Uday is very upset as he doesn’t get the work he wants to do but he is unable to resign from his current organization due to personal reasons. He also cannot work under Baskar due to his clash.

So readers, please provide your valuable inputs based on uday’s perspective and deepak’s perspective.

1. Should Uday go back to abroad?

2. Should Uday resign and find another job how ever difficult It is?

3. Should Deepak be more sensible in finding Uday a role outside his division?

How to handle such cases?

This is case to show that branded education do not matter in current IT scenario in India. Will this situation change?
